Real cause started working in the field of alternative production and marketing to generate regular work and fair income to its member producers' groups, artisans' societies and extended families of craftsmen in Delhi area on self help basis
Real Cause association, registered under the Registration of Societies Act 1860(reg.no-43411),and The Development Commisioner(Handicraft)"Reg.no-1105800096" MINISTRY OF TEXTTILES provides support services to the production and marketing of handicrafts on fair trade lines and looks after the community developmental needs of grassroot crafts-people to help them gain awareness, rights and human dignity in an area of approx. 200 kms. in and around Delhi in north India.The Central Committee, the main fair trade executive body, looks after the production, marketing, information-sharing, administration etc. with a fair representation from all sections of the project, including the producers.More committees function to execute other important works of the project. The goal of fair trade working of the project is to fight exploitation and poverty of crafts-people and their communities who do not have any dignified identity and face inhuman exploitations and injustices in the traditional production and trade system. The project seeks to combat exploitation and poverty through fair trade, political & social lobbying, campaigns & rallies, education and proper development of crafts- communities. At present ten real cause organized groups of crafts-people in different craftlines are associated with the project as members. There are several experimental groups also working with the project in the area.
